8 reviews

Build a reliable, off-grid Meshtastic solar node with this weather-resistant ASA housing kit. Designed around the RAKwireless WisBlock RAK4631, it also accepts other Meshtastic boards using the included universal project plate — a durable, field-ready enclosure for solar-powered mesh deployments on a mast, roof, vehicle or fence post.

Features

  • Printed in ASA for superior UV, heat and weather resistance
  • TPU gasket helps keep water out
  • Taller housing gives extra room for batteries, wiring and board mounting
  • Updated design fits a wider range of 5 V 6 W USB solar panels — more options when your favorite panel is sold out
  • Integrated standoffs position the solar panel and support magnet mounting
  • TPU cover for the solar panel plug (glue to the back of the panel)
  • Room to add a second solar panel
  • Universal project plate snaps over the standoffs for alternate Meshtastic boards

Compatibility

  • RAKwireless WisBlock RAK4631 on the RAK19007 base board (primary design target)
  • Other Meshtastic boards using the universal project plate (screws supplied by you)

FAQ

Is it waterproof?

No — it is water resistant with the gasket. For permanent outdoor installs, seal it with marine-grade silicone. Waterproofing is the builder’s responsibility.

Can I use a board other than the RAK4631?

Yes, mount it on the included universal project plate (bring your own screws).

Why ASA instead of PLA or PETG?

ASA holds up much better to sun, heat and weather, which makes it the right choice for outdoor nodes.

Does it include magnets, a solar panel or a battery?

No. The housing supports magnet mounting and the listed parts, but those are supplied by you.

This was my first attempt at “building” a Mesh Device. I decided to flash it and make it a mobile repeater. The day I finished building it and put it into service it ended up raining. But it seems to be fine, as I expected it would be, and made it through the rain. I had to scrap the hole for the antenna I got because it was a little tight but that was my issue by the makers. Overall I feel it’s a well made product and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent print quality! I haven't had a chance to build it yet. As I haven't had a chance to source all the other parts that I need to put it together but one day I will.

Item as described, print is good quality. The case was big enough for a RAK WIsblock, and 2 18650 batteries.

Don't do what I did. I silicone my antenna in before routing the pigtail cable to the board. I tried to remove the antenna, it wouldn't budge, so I tapped it with rubber mallet and cracked the housing. There is nothing wrong with this product, my brute force caused the failure. LOL live and learn, I ordered another one.
